The Twinery is thrilled to once again be a sponsor of the Handmade Holidays blog hop! We’ve sponsored in the past and it has always been a great experience.
This year, our designer Tifany is sharing some beautiful ornaments that she created using cut wood rounds as a base.
These beautiful ornaments all use some form of paint technique (stencil, ombre, or both) and many have the addition of a little bit of bling in the form of sequins or buttons. And everything is all tied up with twine, of course!
The ombre effect is not as difficult to achieve as it might seem. Simply start by painting one color onto a portion of the ornament. Add a second color and gently pounce a stenciling brush just over the edge of the first color. To get the best gradient effect, go back over the middle area again by adding a bit of the original paint color (again pouncing with the stenciling brush).
The final effect is beautiful, especially when done with a beautiful metallic paint.
Once you’ve mastered the ombre paint technique, be sure to combine it with stenciling. The effects are truly eye-catching.
And because you should never let anyone dull your sparkle…go ahead and add some sequins, too!
Thanks for stopping by today – and happy holidays!
